Swissy Pride! Just goes to show the passion that Swissy owners have for their dogs!! Although we are not the most popular breed in the US, we love our dogs and love taking pictures of them and sharing those pictures! The contest rules asked for the most number of unique pictures of dogs of each breed (so no two pictures of the same dog) to be posted to the contest breed page, and the Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs won!! Thanks for sharing your love for the breed!

August and October brought new additions to Legacy Creek. We brought in two new female puppies, that both trace back to Pearl's (our foundation bitch) grand sire Yuri. One of our new girls, "Sybil"- Whispering Palm's Legacy Ride, comes from Juanita Jones of Whispering Palms in Florida. Our other new addition, "Phoenix" - Matterhorn's Legacy of Solar Flares, comes to us from Laurie Carmody of Matterhorn in New York. We are excited for both the working legacy in both of these girl's histories, as well as the long established reputations of both breeders and their contributions to the Swissy breed. Look for these ladies in the ring in 2019!
GCH CH I'm No Angel av Prinzenhof CGC, CGCA, CGCU We are thrilled to announce that after a long year of evaluating him physically (looking for any potential health issues), as well as temperamentally- taking him to a certified veterinary behaviorist, taking him to multiple trainers, earning his Canine Good Citizen Urban certificate, as well as discussing who he is as a dog with every person who has known him or worked with him, and speaking with his breeder and the owner of his sire, we can now say that "Zuko," GCH CH I'm No Angel av Prinzenhof CGC, CGCA, GCGU, has been officially reinstated with the American Kennel Club. As breeders committed to breeding temperamentally sound Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs, we took the circumstances of his incident last year very seriously. While the circumstances of his incident and his demeanor during the incident, and everything else we knew about this dog led us to believe that there were no aggressive tendencies in him, we could not ignore what happened. We did not pursue reinstatement lightly. For the past year, his temperament has remained as it ever was- stable; great with kids, adults, and dogs alike; some high prey drive (which we have always known and is part of the herding instinct in Swissies); extremely biddable; friendly to all who meet him. Additionally, his puppies that were born 10 days following the incident have all developed into mature, sweet, trainable puppies, three of them now showing in AKC conformation themselves. For all of those who have stood by us during this time of careful evaluation and preparation, especially all of our owners of his puppies and certain members of the Swissy breeder community, we thank you for your support through it all! We are looking forward to putting some more back end titles on this boy, showing off his true Swissy working drive! If anyone has any questions regarding what happened, we are more than happy to discuss the particulars by phone or in person.
We were waiting to post yesterday’s results due to waiting to re-confirm Boozer’s five point major from Thursday, but now we can proudly say that Boozer is Legacy Creek’s newest Champion, finishing with 2 four point majors, 1 five point major, and the final two points yesterday!! He is now CH Legacy Creek’s Hawk’s Eye! Congrats to owners Taylor Willer and Raymond Zulanas! Thank you Janine Leoni for handling this boy! He will now join his brother in the breed ring for the rest of this weekend!
Harper also made the cut in the breed ring yesterday, demonstrating that judges are starting to notice him among the big boys! Thank you Lesli Smith! Magnus also went reserve winner’s dog yesterday-thank you Marty & Michelle Miller! We are over the moon here in Farmington, UT gearing up for the GSMDCA National Specialty! Today at the first of 4 shows in a 4 day cluster leading up to next week, our young boy Harper, Pearl x Porter, took Best Of Breed over a very competitive and large specials entry, at the tender age of 18 months! Thank you, Lesli Smith, for handling our boy! Following closely in his footsteps, his littermate Boozer went Winner’s Dog and then Best of Winners for a 5 point major- thank you Janine Leoni for your continued expert handling of our dogs! Magnus, their half brother, also went Reserve Winner’s Dog to Boozer, and took first in his class in the puppy sweepstakes! AMAZING day for Legacy Creek Swissies! Thank you, judge Nancy Russell!
Magnus goes Winner’s Dog today at Evergreen Kennel Club, for a three point major and his first points! Congrats to his owners, Angela & Nick; and thank you to Michelle Miller from team Miller for your excellent handling!
Today, Magnus was the third Legacy Creek Dog in a row to go Best Puppy in Sweeps at a Peak to Peak Working Dog Club Show! February 2017 it was Ziva, February 2018 it was Harper, and now Magnus in September 2018! We are thrilled with how this boy is growing up! Thank you, Marty Miller, for your continued expert handling of our boy! Zeus, Magnus’ littermate, also made his show debut today in the bred by class! Gulliver (Zuko x Pearl), with the guidance of his amazing owners, Adam & Jessica Coatney, has taken up training for dock diving! In just 6 short weeks, this jumping, fetching, water loving fool went from almost drowning in a pool to a dock diving potential! So excited and happy for him and his people! Looking forward to his future! Back in February, Ziva regrettably tore a ligament in her right shoulder sometime during the Denver cluster of dog shows. Thankfully she had passed her OFAs just weeks before, and earned her Grand Championship that same weekend, as her ring career came to a screeching halt.
We are now happy to report that with some ultrasound and laser therapy, as well as Protein Rich Plasma injections and weeks of physical therapy and wearing a hobble brace, she is on the mend! It takes about a total of 12 months to reach 80-100% joint strength after an injury of this nature, but she has been thriving with the therapy and conditioning she has received at Colorado Canine Orthopedics and Rehab! As large breed dog owners, we need to be ever mindful of what they jump on and off of, repetitive actions that can cause injury on developing joints, and the surfaces they are working/playing/living on. Proper fitness and conditioning also play a large role in joint health. Ziva has always been what I call a “bouncy” girl, going vertical in greetings and play with other dogs. Her exuberance for life and people has not been dampened by this injury, and we are excited for her future career as a therapy dog. We have had to learn some training techniques to curb the vertical energy to help prevent future injury, but she is recovering well! Boozer goes WD/BOW for a 4pt Major!Boozer, Legacy Creek’s Hawks Eye from our Porter x Pearl litter, goes Winner’s Dog and Best of Winners both days for two 4 pt majors and his first points in Eagle, CO at the Roaring Fork Kennel Club! Thank you, Karen Gilden and Janine Leoni for handling him, and judges Christine Mann and Sulie Greenfeld-Paveza for finding this boy! Congrats to owners Taylor & Raymond!
